questioning the character of my friend
One of my friends jokingly called our mutual Ghanaian friend a slave. It was in horrible taste and has made me question her character. She's truly gorgeous--very beautiful and kind. She underestimates herself and she works hard. However, she seems like she needs some external reassurance. (TBF, we all want that on some level)
My friend group has an inside joke that my Ghanian friend jokes that he is Blasian. Once, when I was tired of him larping being asian, I said, "YOU AREN'T KOREAN. YOU'RE BLACCCKKKKQUE" Of course, I didn't mean it in a racist way.
We were on that topic, and my friend said, "You're a slave!" or something along those lines. I replied, "STOP that's not good C." She was laughing, and I think she just wanted to connect or arouse a reaction because she was sitting a bit farther from the main friend group.
My other friends weren't mad, and the subject quickly moved on to something else.
Anyways, it made me rethink what I thought she was like. I think I'll stay friends with her. This sounds bad, but she is truly not racist. She is a person of color, and she has no malicious intention--just bad jokes.
